This Friday’s speaker is Dr. LaVonnie Perry Claybon, Director Mid-South Access Center for Technology at the University of Memphis. The Mid-South Access Center for Technology is an assistive technology resource center providing services for individuals with disabilities in Memphis and the Mid-South region, and is affiliated with the Center for Rehabilitation and Employment Research. Dr. Peter Brand is a Dunavant Professor of Ancient History and Egyptology at the University of Memphis. Dr. Brand is the Field Director for the Karnak Great Hypostyle Hall Project of the University of Memphis, and will be speaking about this fascinating project.
The Hypostyle Hall was built by Seti I in the Nineteenth Dynasty ( about 1292 – 1187 BCE,) and was finished by his son, Ramesses II. Many pharoas used the Hall, until it’s closing in the fourth century, AD/CE.
