Paula Casey – Women’s Suffrage TN 19th Amendment Ratification

On Friday, February 17, 2012, our speaker will be Paula Casey. Ms. Casey will be speaking about women’s suffrage, and particularly about Tennessee’s pivotal role in getting the 19th amendment passed, and thereby giving women the right to vote. This is seems apropos, in light of certain issues being debated in our country right now.
Come, have lunch, great conversations and listen to an interesting speaker. Bring you questions, also. We meet at noon, Friday at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn.

Memphis Area Women’s Council

On Friday, March 18, 2011, Deborah Clubb (not pictured), executive director of the Memphis Area Women’s Council, will be our featured speaker.  The MAWC is a non-profit organization that aims to connect research with activists, in order to change policies and practices that limit the success of women and girls.
According to their website, they have been involved with the following initiatives:

Ending corporal punishment in city schools.
Securing a living wage for Memphis and Shelby county employees.
Leading a new campaign to connect victims and volunteers with domestic resources via www.erasedomesticcrime.com.
